Oh blog, how I've neglected you

If only you were less content demanding, like twitter.

On the topic of twitter... Are there any programmers out there that can help me out with a request?

I need a better Apple dashboard twitter client.

My ideal client would have the footprint, look and feel of twitterlex except with a dedicated read out of how many characters I have left.

From a functional standpoint, I'd want to be able to click peoples names and urls contained in a twitter and have Safari open them. I think twitterlex is supposed to do this, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Finally, I'd like only those twitters that are direct for me to pop up a growl notification.

Maybe I'll take some time this summer to learn javascript and try to tackle this myself.

Dude, you know you could install a Twitter plugin for your blog. That way, your blog won't feel so neglected.

The Twitter RSS feeds also works but it doesn't look as nice.

I use tweetdeck (tweetdeck.com) for my mac tweeting needs. It's not a dashboard widget, but it's unreal. you get groups, offline tweet storage (for when you're traveling or without internet), and you can organize your twitter friends into groups (i have one just for my beer feeds).

and you can also post tweets. It's pretty amazing.

Hey Josh,

I tried out Tweetdeck on the suggestion of another friend as well, actually. The features seem well executed and it's pretty.

I find that twittering is more of a passive thing for me - I don't like having to open an extra app on my desktop to do it. That's why the dashboard widget almost fits my needs perfectly.

If only I knew anything about programming - the javascript doesn't look that difficult, though I don't think it's written that efficiently in twitterlex.
